CALEDONIA WATERFALLS
NATURE TRAIL

The Caledonia (or Kalidonia) Waterfalls Nature Trail winds through a lush forest in the Troodos Mountains, tracing the path of the Kryos Potamos River—a rare, year-round waterway in Cyprus, teeming with trout. The trail’s highlight is the impressive 13-meter Caledonia Falls, where water cascades dramatically over hard gabbro rock. Along the route, you’ll encounter charming river crossings, some requiring careful steps over slippery stones. There are rest areas, plant markers, and plenty of company—expect to share the trail with individual hikers, tourist groups, and schoolchildren enjoying this popular destination.

How to get here
  • If you want to start from Starting Point 1 and hike downwards, you can use the small parking areas located near this starting point.
  • Alternatively, you can begin at the lowest point—Starting Point 2, located at Psilo Dentro above Pano Platres. In this case, you can park near the Psilo Dentro restaurant and follow a slightly uphill road for 300 meters to reach the start of the trail.
  • As it is a mountain road, be prepared for a lot of twists and turns, and be mindful of weather conditions in the mountains, as they may differ from other parts of the island. During the winter months, some mountain roads might be open only to four-wheel-drive vehicles or cars with winter chains on tires.
