The Millomeris Waterfall trail offers a challenging hike through dense vegetation, following the river in its first half and leading to open mountain terrain with stunning views. The waterfall, hidden within the mountain, is the tallest in Cyprus, with water cascading 15 meters. The trail is difficult, featuring steep, rough, and slippery terrain, but you will be rewarded with breathtaking views and a refreshing swim in the waterfall's cool waters.

How to get here

- If you feel like starting the trail right from the Millomeris waterfall or you do not want to hike all the way to see it, there is a parking lot just a couple minutes away from the waterfall. For the location pin, click here.
- As it is a mountain road, be prepared for a lot of twists and turns, and be mindful of weather conditions in the mountains, as they may differ from other parts of the island. During winter months, some mountain roads might be open only to four-wheel-drive vehicles or cars with winter chains on tires.

What to expect from the trail
- The trail is open all year-round, but it can be dangerous in winter due to rains.
- This route is very popular.
- The path is rather enduring, it has steep ascents and descents and places where you have to climb over rocks and trees. Do not forget to wear appropriate shoes.
- There are not many signs, marking the way.
- Nearly the half of the trail is in the shade, thus it is perfect for summer.
- There are few benches along the trail.

Suggestions to enhance your experience
- Drive to Trooditissa Monastery, nestled in a cedar valley 1,500 meters above sea level, following a legend it was founded in the 8th-century. A young man, escaping Constantinople, brought with him an icon of the Virgin Mary, said to have been created by the Apostle Luke himself, and established the monastery after being guided by a divine vision. The monastery's history is marked by reconstruction efforts following fires, with the main church rebuilt in 1731. - Discover Platres village, where you can enjoy traditional tavernas, visit the Platres chocolate workshop, or have fun at the rope park. Platres hosts several festivals throughout the year, including a lavender festival celebrating the local lavender that grows nearby — so be sure to check the event calendar before your visit. The village also has a rich history as a retreat for ambassadors and wealthy families from around the world, who built homes with distinctive architectural styles. - Have a picnic at special picnic area by Prodromos reservoir. At first glance, the road to the site may seem undrivable, but it’s accessible all the way down, with plenty of parking available. Alternatively, you can park just off the road, which is only a 7-minute walk away. The area offers numerous shaded benches, two large BBQ stands, a small playground, and a view of the reservoir.
