What to expect from the trail
  • The trail is open year-round. Due to its location, in the winter season, the temperature is 4-5 degrees lower compared to the seaside.
  • This route is not very popular.
  • The path is in normal condition.
  • If you go clockwise, you will have a steep ascent for the first 2 km; after that, the path runs smoothly. If it were not for these first 2 km, the route would have been easy and kid-friendly. If you want to avoid this uncomfortable ascent, we would advise you to go counter-clockwise until you reach the fire lookout station and then turn back. This will make your trail longer in distance but lighter in effort, and you will not miss out on anything at all.
  • The trail has no shade and runs through vineyards.
  • There are several benches with scenic views along the trail.

Suggestions to enhance your experience
  • Spend some time at Pano Panagia village, where the trail begins. It is a small mountain village with several cafes and traditional architecture mostly famous for nearby wineries, churches and as a birth place of the first president of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III.
  • Just outside Pano Panagia village, on the top of the hill, stands Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery, built in the 12th century. The monastery boasts a remarkable collection of religious artifacts, a beautiful church, its own winery, and a shop where you can purchase not only wine but also local products. Adjacent to the monastery is a small cafe with a picturesque view. For the location pin, click here.
